El Taco De Jalisco is a no-frills Mexican restaurant nestled on Vance Jackson Road in San Antonio, serving up straightforward, home-style dishes with a focus on traditional breakfast and Latin American eats. This spot leans into the local Mexican culinary scene with handmade tortillas and a range of authentic offerings like menudo, barbacoa tacos, and machacado plates, making it a reliable stop for those craving familiar flavors without the fuss.

The atmosphere is unpretentious and casual—more of a community hangout than a destination with bells and whistles. You'll find friendly staff behind the counter who are quick with recommendations and generous touches, like the free sopapilla that comes with every order. Whether you walk in or use the drive-thru, the kitchen moves your meal along efficiently, though a bit of wait is typical during peak breakfast hours.

This place tends to draw in a diverse mix of locals: folks stopping by for a relaxing breakfast taco, regulars ordering menudo or enchiladas, and newcomers looking for a comforting bite. The breakfast tacos come highly recommended, especially with options like bean and cheese with bacon and eggs, while the asada and pastor tacos are popular choices around lunch. One trademark here is their creamy green salsa, a rarer find that adds a nice twist to the standard taco line-up.

While some dishes can lean on the greasier side—noticeable in the enchiladas or certain beef plates—the freshness of homemade flour and corn tortillas keeps the balance. Sopapillas serve as a sweet, simple finish, light and airy rather than heavy. Coffee and sweet tea are reliable picks for pairing with your meal, fitting well with the morning and midday rhythms of the neighborhood.

El Taco De Jalisco suits those who appreciate a more grounded Mexican dining experience, especially locals who favor breakfast tacos or a hearty plate of menudo to start their day. The best time to visit is during morning or early afternoon hours when the kitchen is in full swing and the breakfast specials are available. Expect something cozy and straightforward—a place where food takes front stage and the atmosphere feels like a casual check-in rather than a formal sit-down.

Cute little restaurant, the food was delicious and fresh. Waitress was nice, the sweet tea was good. The menudo comes with a little shaker of oregano. My friend is from Mexico and she approves of the menudo .

Not from the side of town and was looking for something to eat. Missed the turn and into McDonald’s so ended up at El taco de Jalisco ordered an Asada taco with lettuce and tomato. Flavor: B Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: A I got the Mexican Plate and - while all good - the crispy beef taco was my favorite part. I know you might be wondering what could make a simple taco so good and I have no idea - but I’ll be back just for the tacos. The enchiladas were pretty greasy and not saucy enough for my taste. The sopapillas were also delicious.

We ordered the asada and the pastor on flour. Staff was super nice. Food was delicious not to mention they have the creamy green salsa which is a rarity. Will be returning for breakfast tacos tomorrow.

What a wonderful restaurant to now get my tacos, menudo and more from! They have so many breakfast, lunch and dinner specials, it's almost crazy that I should post this Handmade corn and flour tortillas... yummy! Now if you go through the drive-through you might experience a little bit of wait but... they really get the food out fast!

Breakfast tacos are delicious. Bean and chorizo on flour tortilla is a must. It tastes like a grandma home cooked meal. Would recommend 10 out of 10. Attentive server. Sopapillas are also a must!
